Yoga vs Gym. Which one will work for you?

Both Gym and Yoga have their own benefits. They both have their own pros and cons. It depends mainly on what you are aiming to achieve through your work-out. Although both incorporate rigorous physical activity of the body, one will end up achieving entirely different results after choosing one of the two. Many health-freaks choose both. But, this is the level of a pro and is is advised that the beginners choose one of the two depending on what they want. So, let us take a look at what would be the best, taking different aspects into consideration:

Body, Mind and Soul:

If you are looking for peace through your work-out session, Yoga is the choice for you. It relaxes the muscles, improves the functioning of the lungs, helps in digestion but, most of all, it replenishes the soul. A person who does Yoga on a daily basis is less prone to suffer anxiety. Yoga channelizes the positive energy through the body.

Keeping Your Weight Under Check:

Yoga might help in losing weight but, the process will be really slow. If it is losing weight that is your aim, then Gym is the option for you. Not only the equipment at the Gym will help you lose your weight, the trainer will make sure that you do the right exercise and stick to your diet chart.

Yoga Helps in Focusing:

The pranayams are designed in such a way that they enhance ones’ capabilities to concentrate better. Any Yoga session begins with a 10-15 minutes of meditation where one focuses right in the between of their eyes/forehead. It is said that that is the main source of channelizing positive energy.

The Heart:

Gym focuses on cardio activities. So, if you are a person with the specific need to keep the health of your heart in check, opt for the Gym. Cardio activities could include aerobics, walking, jogging, cycling, rope skipping, dancing and swimming. It requires tremendous dedication but, the results are worth the pain.

Other Factors:

Where a Gymming session is more tiring, Yoga relaxes and soothes the mind. Gym is more focused on the body. Extreme exercises are done at the gym. If you are an introvert or you are someone extremely conscious of your body, then it is going to be a challenge for you to adapt at a gym. Coming back to the original point, you really need to set your priorities straight before opting for either of the one. Hitting the gym will definitely help you lose weight faster, help you maintain a strict routine and by the end of 6 months to a year, you will emerge a straongger being, not only physically but also mentally.

Yoga helps in the blooming of ones’ spirit, relaxes the muscles, can be done anywhere, requires no subscription, helps in concentrating and is gentle on the body. Yoga is known for making the body flexible. It eases the aches and pains of the body.

To conclude, it can be said that if it is the fitness of the body you see, then gym is the option for you. However, if it is calm and peace of the mind which is your aim then you should choose Yoga.
